But why do they survive in environments that may be subpar? Most likely, their adaptation to their environments is pretty good. Their diet is mostly spiders, and the spiders that are targeted are large and have venom. They’re also reported to be both avoiding large flies, though in those species that are preyed upon, there’s been some suggestions that larger flies are biting them while they’re riding them, so a reasonable guess is that perhaps their fangs or venom is better than their bodyweight.
